The Female Brain – An Asset or Barrier to Success in Business?

By Janet Graham - Last updated: Monday, January 20, 2014

This was the title of an article in the January 2014 issue of the newsletter of Caliber Leadership Systems which is co-owned by Heather Hilliard and Anne Dranitsaris. I found myself referencing the content several times in conversation in the days after I read it, although I am certain I didn't articulate the points as well as the authors of the article did.   In my view, it is well worth reading and includes some thought-provoking content....in a good way!!   Here's the link:   http://www.caliberleadership.com/pdf/Caliber%20Practical%20Insight%20-%20The%20Female%20Brain.pdf   I would love to hear your thoughts on the article!! Please share them in the Comments sections below.   Enjoy!!

Taking YES for an answer

An article in the December issue of CAmagazine by Mary Teresa Bitti reminded me of the importance of being a skilled negotiator in both the workplace and life, in general. Do get comfortable asking for what you want   6. Don't take the first offer and don't accept the first No   7. Do take some risk   8. Don't overnegotiate   9. Do be clear on ...

A Comprehensive Guide to Feminist Theory: 20 Essential Reads

By Janet Graham - Last updated: Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Sheer joy.....with a little dash of pride.....was what I felt when I saw the title of an essay written by Elizabeth DiEmanuele, posted on her facebook page with the link to the essay itself. The title of her essay is the title of my post today "A Comprehensive Guide to Feminist Theory: 20 Essential Reads."   Elizabeth's post gave me hope too!!  You see I had convinced myself that the younger generation had lost interest in "feminism" and Elizabeth proved me wrong. She is a university student and to study and understand and write about feminist theory (which is more than I had done before declaring to the world whenever the opportunity arose that I was one, a feminist that is) gave ...

The Opt Out Generation Wants Back In

By Janet Graham - Last updated: Monday, October 7, 2013

A friend sent me the link to an article published in the New York Times in early August with the title "The Opt Out Generation Wants Back In."  When friends send me articles, I usually read them and tweet about them (if I am inspired to do so),  despite the fact, I am well aware many of you are not on twitter.   In this case, I kept thinking about the article and thought it offered a perspective we don't hear very often, so I am doing things the old fashioned way...I am blogging about it to share the link with you....in the hopes, more of you will read it.   I warn you this article is a long one!! Regardless, I believe it ...
