Veronica. Difficulties, Advice and Alliances

By - Last updated: Wednesday, March 16, 2011

I asked Veronica to think of the people she had the greatest difficulty with and how she would describe them or characterize them and what their impact was on her and her career. She said: "I would say the type of people who I found most difficult to deal with would be people who were fearful of change because certainly part of what I believe in and I advocate in my work and my life is if you stop changing you stop growing, and if you stop growing you start dying.  So if you put someone like me into a situation where there is no possibility for change or growth then the person who becomes difficult is me. She said: "Oh boy, dealing with ...

Fear that somehow I couldn't do it and would let people down and I'd let myself down and I'd go and take on more than I could realistically chew.  So that was an obstacle for sure and I think that's still there.  When I take on something new, there's that period when before you've got ...

Barbara. Advice

By - Last updated: Wednesday, May 19, 2010

I asked Barbara to tell me the best advice she had ever been given. She said: "I remember reading this advertising campaign that a large US company developed many years ago, possibly in the 80's and it had a bunch of different aspects to it but one of the things was to never give up. It was early in my career and it always stuck with me. I remember reading it and it's always stuck with me because I think that's so important no matter what you're doing, whether you don't feel like you can find a solution to a problem or you find yourself in a difficult situation where it just feels like you can't deal with it; it ...
