My New Bio

By Janet Graham - Last updated: Wednesday, January 29, 2014

I have added a brief version of my new one page bio in the Ask a Babe section. Please check it out!!   I have included the lengthier version of my bio below, so you can check me out in all my glory!! You see I want you and the rest of the world to know my qualifications, so you can help me achieve one of my objectives.  At this time, I have the capacity for another corporate directorship and believe I am well qualified to sit on the board of a large and complex organization and feel my timing might be perfect given the “pressures” in the marketplace today!!  I know you are all out and about in the world and ...

What would I do if I weren’t afraid?

By Janet Graham - Last updated: Thursday, January 9, 2014

I stole the above question from Sheryl Sandberg's 2011 commencement address to the graduating class of Barnard College which she talks about in the first chapter of her fabulous book "Lean In."   Sandberg ended her address to the class with the following:   "So please ask yourself: What would I do if I weren't afraid? And then go do it."   Sandberg ends the first chapter of her book with the following words:   "Writing this book is not just me encouraging others to lean in. This is me leaning in. Writing this book is what I would do if I weren't afraid."   Bravo Sheryl!!   So please ask yourself as we being the new year: "What would I do if I weren't afraid? And then go do it."   I dare ...

She is a university student and to study and understand and write about feminist theory (which is more than I had done before declaring to the world whenever the opportunity arose that I was one, a feminist that is) gave ...

An Inspiring Journey!!

By Janet Graham - Last updated: Thursday, June 20, 2013

I met Michelle Shemilt a couple of years ago when she invited me to speak at a Women in Capital Markets event. As these things happen, we have kept in touch ever since and for most of this time Michelle has been on a journey, in terms of her work life and career.   Michelle submitted the story of her journey to leanin.org in the hopes it would be posted. (If you haven't already checked out this wonderful site and all of its various components including the Lean In Stories, I encourage you to do so!!) This is what she wrote; I find it inspiring and I hope you do too!!   "My first career out of university was as an equity sales trader ...
