For me the answer to this question is all about making choices which are consistent with what I say I want in my life. In essence, the choices I make impact whether I keep the small promises I make to myself. And sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. And I want more of the times when I do. And when I don't, I will endeavour to learn from the situation and be gentle with myself. In this way, I expect to move towards what I am wanting in my life.

MemberThe majority of the small promises I made to myself within the last 5 years I have kept. I HAD TO DO THAT TO GET MY HEALTH AND SANITY BACK.
Without taking charge of my medical condition and showing/telling doctors and specialists that I was not going to end up in a wheelchair, I would not have survived the last few years. I knew my long term goal. Simply stated it was, "I'm going to golf again." Being able to walk back onto a golf course, socialize, play as a team and become confident in all I had to do takes many, many small promises.
To make this happen, I had to make many choices that disrupted my family, provoked some ostracization from friends and lead me to make a deeper commitment to my faith.
The most significant promise was to live in the "NOW". Forgive the past and don't stress about the future. These 3 small promises keep me strong today and guide me through my minutes, hours and days.
