I am at the cottage with my beloved. And I know spending this time together, going for a boat ride, taking the dog for a walk without a leash, working in the garden, reading a novel, watching dvd's, having a fire, listening to music etc etc etc are some of the things needed to recharge my batteries.

What about you?
Janet Graham on "What is integrity?" http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/topic/what-is-integrity#post-37 Mon, 10 May 2010 13:46:03 +0000 Janet Graham 37@http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/
Integrity means living in a way which is consistent with your values and keeping the promises you make to yourself and others. I HAD TO DO THAT TO GET MY HEALTH AND SANITY BACK.

Without taking charge of my medical condition and showing/telling doctors and specialists that I was not going to end up in a wheelchair, I would not have survived the last few years. I knew my long term goal. Simply stated it was, "I'm going to golf again." Being able to walk back onto a golf course, socialize, play as a team and become confident in all I had to do takes many, many small promises.

To make this happen, I had to make many choices that disrupted my family, provoked some ostracization from friends and lead me to make a deeper commitment to my faith.

The most significant promise was to live in the "NOW". Forgive the past and don't stress about the future. These 3 small promises keep me strong today and guide me through my minutes, hours and days.

Hattie-san
Janet Graham on "Are you keeping the small promises you make to yourself?" http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/topic/are-you-keeping-the-small-promises-you-make-to-yourself#post-33 Mon, 12 Apr 2010 14:58:36 +0000 Janet Graham 33@http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/
For me the answer to this question is all about making choices which are consistent with what I say I want in my life. In essence, the choices I make impact whether I keep the small promises I make to myself. And sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. And I want more of the times when I do. And when I don't, I will endeavour to learn from the situation and be gentle with myself. In this way, I expect to move towards what I am wanting in my life.
sjg4 on "What is it to be gentle with myself?" http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/topic/what-is-it-to-be-gentle-with-myself-1#post-32 Tue, 06 Apr 2010 23:27:34 +0000 sjg4 32@http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/
I give myself the opportunity to relax, not be criticalof any of my actions and continue practising "Mindlessness" on a daily basis.
Janet Graham on "What is it to be gentle with myself?" http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/topic/what-is-it-to-be-gentle-with-myself#post-31 Mon, 05 Apr 2010 11:56:01 +0000 Janet Graham 31@http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/
Being gentle with myself means slowing down, taking one thing at a time, letting go of the harsh judge and critic which resides inside. Fun is how I've been spending every day since I jumped in my truck, with my dog on January 27, 2009 and drove to Puerto Penasco, Mexico from Edmonton, Alberta. Fun is getting your life back after poor health. Fun is cancelling going to play cards with a bunch of retired Americans because I have to watch the Men's quarter finals between Canada and Russia during the Olympics in Vancouver. Fun is going to a $5.00 Pasta Night with Adrianne and meeting new people. Fun is walking the beach with Bruin, my loyal and protective, Shiba Inu dog. Fun is living the life I want to live. Fun is keeping in contact with all the people who love me. Fun is taking any time you want to sit down and read. I would have sought out a wonderful, loving relationship sooner and I would have given a lot more thought to having children in my life. I have had the privilege of having a wonderful relationship and four beautiful children in my life the last 3+ years and I am grateful!!
Janet Graham on "How Would You Rate Your Network?" http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/topic/how-would-you-rate-your-network#post-2 Thu, 27 Aug 2009 17:46:48 +0000 Janet Graham 2@http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/
My answer to this question is in the context of my "work" network. For this purpose, I use a simple rating system comprised of two components, Relevance and Enthusiasm.
I rate a Relevant Contact a 1 if they actually have control over assignments or work I might want to do, a 2 if they have a great vantage point and a 3 if they have neither control nor vantage point. Hence, a low score is better in terms of Relevance.
I rate an Enthusiastic Contact a 1 if they were or are a co-worker, a 2 if they were or are a closely dealt with outsider, a 3 if they are a by reputation only contact or a 4 if they are a non business contact. Again, a low score is better in terms of Enthusiasm.
A contact who scores 2 is one of the most "effective" contacts in my network in terms of being helpful with my obtaining assignments or work I might want to do.
This scoring is not something I necessarily do on an excel spread sheet; it is an exercise I might undertake more casually. Regardless, I know my network includes a significant number of contacts with low scores and I am grateful.
How does your network rate when you look at it from this perspective? Do you use another system to rate you own network of contacts? I would love to "hear" about it.
And I would love to "hear" your thoughts in terms of building a more effective network.
Janet Graham on ""Speak your mind...even if your voice shakes."" http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/topic/speak-your-mindeven-if-your-voice-shakes#post-1 Thu, 27 Aug 2009 17:46:08 +0000 Janet Graham 1@http://babesonbaystreet.com/forums/
I just posted this quote on my blog, in fact I posted the entire quote which is "Stand before the people you fear and speak your mind...even if your voice shakes."
