What would I do if I weren’t afraid?

By - Last updated: Thursday, January 9, 2014

I stole the above question from Sheryl Sandberg's 2011 commencement address to the graduating class of Barnard College which she talks about in the first chapter of her fabulous book "Lean In."   Sandberg ended her address to the class with the following:   "So please ask yourself: What would I do if I weren't afraid? And then go do it."   Sandberg ends the first chapter of her book with the following words:   "Writing this book is not just me encouraging others to lean in. This is me leaning in. Writing this book is what I would do if I weren't afraid."   Bravo Sheryl!!   So please ask yourself as we being the new year: "What would I do if I weren't afraid? And then go do it."   I dare ...

The link below is to Janet McFarland's article in today's Globe and Mail which provides more detail.   http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/companies-should-have-3-women-directors-or-face-delisting-teachers/article14721742/   I love bold moves and I love this one, in particular!! In my mind, this is leadership and demonstrates how a major organization can have an impact on the world in ...

Interview with John Smith

By - Last updated: Tuesday, June 4, 2013

Today's post is the first of three excerpts from my interview with "John Smith." I was thrilled he agreed to be interviewed. I hope you enjoy reading what he has to say and as usual your comments are most welcome!!   As we began the interview, John says this about women “I consider females superior to males in many ways.  In general, they’re superior. They’re better people for the world than men are.  They are.  Men care about themselves and/or moving up the corporate ladder, whatever the hell that is.  Women seem to have very keen ...
