Why do corporate boards still lean so heavily toward men?

The answer to this question is at the same time simple and yet complex. My simple answer as to why there are not more women on boards would be that a prejudice against women in the senior ranks of business persists despite efforts to raise awareness and motivate change. I found the quote of the CEO of Revera in the  Globe article to be quite telling. He opines that the talent pool for women directors is enormous and yet just two of his 11 board directors are women. Hilary Clinton and Gloria Steinem

Over the last couple of weeks, there have been several wonderful articles, stories and opinion pieces written and published in the New York Times about two women I admire greatly -- Hilary Clinton and Gloria Steinem (my all-time hero)!!   In case you missed them, I have included the links to the columns here.   The first is a link to an opinion piece written by another great woman, Maureen Dowd on Wednesday, March 14, the same day the editorial "Why I Am Leaving Goldman Sachs"  written by Greg Smith was published.  In all of the hoopla about the Greg Smith column it would be easy to miss the Maureen Dowd column which would be a shame.
