Last Lecture

I was in the US recently and there was a lot of media coverage of a book called the "Last Lecture" published by a 47 year professor , Randy Pausch who is dying of pancreatic cancer. Pausch, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University gave a lecture in September 2007 which is the basis of his new book. The "last lecture" is an academic tradition where a professor is invited to speak as if it's the last lecture he will ever give. However, in Pausch's case, it was. Rescue Missions Aborted!!

Fyi, you cannot rescue anyone!! I have made many rescue attempts in my life and I am proud to say I got over it!! At some point, I recognized that you cannot rescue people!! And I have come to believe this applies to groups and maybe whole countries. People have to rescue themselves and when they decide to do so, my observation is that they are best equipped and more than capable!!
