I, too, found this article with Dan’s help, via his Facebook page. Thanks Dan!

As a general rule, I appreciate the celebration of strong women wherever I find it. Certain phrases in the article made me cringe, however, generally when Wente stopped offering an opinion in favour of being cute.

I really don’t expect these leaders to discuss their fabulous shoes. When their gender does come to bear, I expect questions of boardroom diversity, enhancing early childhood education, and ensuring job security for those providing elder care.

Wente does her gender no service by summoning a visual of a premier shopping at Costco. Nor does she help anyone by calling any woman a dingbat. Fortunately, the vast majority of readers see through her cheap attempt at levity.
