Advice:How To Climb The Ladder

posted July 4th, 2011 by Janet Graham - Leave a Comment

This is the final piece of advice from the series “Advice:How to Climb the Ladder” which was written by Janet McFarland as part of the October 2010 series by the Globe and Mail which comprised a number of articles about Women in Power. The component written by Ms McFarland comprised advice from a number of senior Canadian women which I thought was excellent.

The following is from Annette Verschuren, Former President of Home Depot

“I think to young people: Go to other countries. Learn another language. It really doesn’t matter what it is, but learn another language whether you want to learn French or German or Mandarin. I think it’s really important to learn about other cultures and other societies. You have such a greater sensitivity to people when you have that perspective.”
