Advice:How To Climb The Ladder

This is another piece of advice from the series “Advice:How to Climb the Ladder” which was written by Janet McFarland as part of the October 2010 series by the Globe and Mail which comprised a number of articles about Women in Power. The component written by Ms McFarland comprised advice from a number of senior Canadian women which I thought was excellent.

The following is from Karen Kinsley, CEO Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.

“I think you have to make sure that you’re in an organization that you feel has a culture that recognizes your contribution. That’s first and foremost. And if you don’t, then you should look at an organization where that is the case. If you are in an organization that does that, then there’s no mystery to the rest of it. And that’s commitment, passion, hard work. And if you do that, your talent will be recognized.”
