QWhat are some good ways for women to network informally?

The question which was submitted was framed in the context of the activities which men participate in which facilitate informal networking, specifically:  ”Men generally do a lot of informal networking through sports and recreation (Golf, Hockey, Soccer). What are some good ways that women can network informally, if they don’t really participate in these activities?”

I think it is really important to network and if sports aren’t your thing, try getting involved in industry associations and/or conferences. Look for interesting luncheons with interesting speakers and host a corporate table and invite guests. Get involved in charities or organizing committees for charity events geared toward your industry. Importantly, networking is the key to everything, so figure out what works for you.
