“Stand before the people you fear and speak your mind…even if your voice shakes.”

This quote is from Maggie Kuhn who is best known for her work with the Gray Panthers, a radical social activist organization raising issues of justice and fairness for older Americans. She is credited with the passage of laws prohibiting forced retirement and with reform in health care and nursing home oversight.

I first heard the more famous part of this quote when a friend told me she saw it on a bumper sticker “Speak your mind…even if your voice shakes”, so I did a little research to see if I could find out where it came from and give credit to the right person.

I loved “hearing” about the Gray Panthers and I was fairly certain I would like this woman, if I had the privilege of meeting her because another of her quotes caught my eye “Learning and sex until rigor mortis.”

Enjoy!!
